What Tasks is your team avoiding?

When I ran my cafe, there were a few tasks I could never remember how to do:

Batch Cold Brew and Chai Concentrate.

The only option I had during a rush was to have someone drop their task and walk me through it, or I’d have to dig through our PDF recipe guide. If you’ve ever worked a rush, those are two things you don’t do. So, I would find any other task to do that moved the needle. But we would inevitably run out of either Cold Brew or Chai, and would have to finish the rush with more and more unhappy customers.

A 2018 study estimated that inefficient knowledge sharing costs an average U.S. business up to $2.4 million in productivity annually. Additionally, Fortune 500 companies reportedly lose at least $31.5 billion a year by failing to share knowledge effectively.

Now, we weren’t losing out on millions at Morgan’s Mill, but we were definitely losing cash.

Inefficient training and knowledge sharing are a BIG problem for US corporations, especially for restaurants, food & bev, and manufacturing.

What tasks is your team putting off? Have you figured out how much it’s costing you?
